YOUTH CONGRESS IKA APPLAUDS STEVE ASHIEN

The executive of Ika Youth Congress, a body made up of youths in Ika land, indigenes and non indigenes have applauded the publisher of Ika weekly newspaper, Mr. Steve Ashien over his contribution to the development of Ika land.

They gave the applause during a courtesy visit to the publisher at Ika Weekly Newspaper office along Old Lagos Asaba road recently.

Speaking on behalf of the executive, the National coordinator of the body, Comrade Oseh Ifeanyi Fred said the association took a stance to honour him due to his positive contributions towards Ika land. He noted that the congress whose aim is to foster unity among Ika youths, create impact in enhancing development in Ika land, and also create an action in sustainable development, among other goals, deemed it fit to familiarize with the publisher, owing to his great achievement in Ika land.

They used the medium to invite the Publisher for their forth-coming inauguration of their Youth leaders representing the eleven kingdoms in Ika nation/Voter’s sensitization seminar both to hold on the 10th of August 2018, 12pm at Ika National Hall.

In his response, the Publisher of Ika Weekly Newspaper, Mr. Steve Ekiri-Mekiriuwa Ashien appreciated the group for the gesture, stating that it is not common to see people who are contributing positively to their society appreciated by others.

Continuing, he opined that Ika Weekly Newspaper is for the good of everyone, saying that it is the eye of the Ika  society hence; it is neither sectional nor political. And that the paper will continue to practice balanced reportage, without fear or favour, adding that it gives him pleasure to work for the people and encouraged the youths to cultivate sound morals, and avoid seeking monetary gains for their service.

Steve Ashien commended the group for their humanitarian services to Ika land, pledging to support them in their future endeavours, in whatever way he can.
