Members of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) led by Comrade Corliss Azikiwe recently held a one day prayer session to pray against forces of darkness delaying the payment of their salaries. The theme of the prayer which took place at the Local Government Council at Owa-Oyibu was, “God Will Hear our Cry”.
Speaking on the theme, the guest preacher, Rev. Clement Njoegbu of Church of God Mission (CGM), Bishopric along Morka Street, Boji-Boji Owa took his sermon from the book of Exodus 2: 23-25, and charged the council staff to keep praying to God and make sure that they are living a life that pleases Him saying that by doing so, He will hear their cry over their unpaid salaries; the same way He came to the aid of the children of Israel when they were in bondage in the land of Egypt. While encouraging the NULGE staff to put their trust in God, Rev. Njoegbu drew their attentions to how God was able to fulfill His Covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and enjoined them to study the book of Matthew 7:7-8 which says, “Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you”. He stressed that whenever they ask or seek anything from God, He will grant it to them provided they live a righteous life and obey His commandments.
Also speaking, Pastor Eugene Onyekeosuor enjoined the congregation to read the book of Psalm 90 verse I, where he directed the Christians to pray to God who has been their dwelling place in all generations He also admonished them to pray against, any evil force delaying their unpaid salaries; He stressed that with God, nothing is impossible on earth, adding that all the local governments in Nigeria need to work together towards getting their autonomy from the state government as prayers and total commitments to God works.
Other pastors who led the prayer include; Pastor Solomon Akaibe, Pastor Godfrey Mordi and Pastor Daniel Nwokoro. In a separate remark, they admonished NULGE staff to pray against any terminal disease the devil has deposited in their body and against every forces of darkness militating against the progress of the entire local government areas in Nigeria. They concluded by advising Christians to always pray for the Nigerian government particularly president Muhammadu Buhari and all governors that God should give them the strength, wisdom and understanding to rule Nigeria and remember the local government workers in the country.
