TOP FUNCTIONARIES ATTEND PA OFUME BURIAL CEREMONY

It is a known fact that one day; the story of every man’s sojourn on earth must come to an end in death. In line with this, Alihami community in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State on Friday, December, 22, 2017 witnessed an unprecedented turnout of top government functionaries and business moguls who gathered to pay their last respect to the community late octogenarian, Hon. The well attended burial ceremony will remain evergreen for the family of Ofume as their late father who lived a life worthy of emulation was showered with heart touching tributes in his honour.
Among the dignitaries that graced the ceremony were the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Hon. Victor Nwokolo, Hon. Anthony Elekeokwuri, Hon Festus Okoh, Chief Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, Sir & Mrs Tony Obuh, Chief Dr & Dr Mrs Emmanuel Tibi, Dr. & Mrs Onyeagwu, Okemor Fidelis Tilije, Mr. Patrick Ukah including different organizations, association, and various political parties in the state.
The ceremony started with a funeral mass held at All Saints Catholic Church, Alihami Agbor and was officiated by six reverend fathers led by the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Until his death, Hon Pa Joe as fondly called by his children was a beacon of light in his community. In 2014 he was appointed as a Justice of the Peace of the Delta State government. He was a well known business tycoon who started his transportation business in the late 50s and as the business flourished, he expanded his business empire to become a major contractor in 1960 specializing in building and general supplies.
He served as Chairman, Land/Community Development Association for Alihami, Agbor during which he gave back to the community by building a massive community centre equipped to also serve the community council of elders. He is a sport man, but took an exceptional achievement to be a proud father who gave all for the success of his children among whom is the immediate past chairman of Ika South Local Government Council, Hon. Fred Ofume and Barr Festus Ofume, Chairman, Young Democratic Party, (YDP), Delta State Chapter.
Guests who spoke at the occasion extolled his good qualities, saying that even in death, Pa Jumbo Isaac Ofume still lives on.
There was enough to eat and drink amidst musical interlude which was rendered by the popular Ika highlife Music legend, Chief Akwete.
